A message from Naomi Klein, author of This Changes Everything and The Shock Doctrine.

Friends of the Earth Australia has always insisted on the inextricable links between ecological and social justice, forging an innovative and durable organizing tradition on that foundation.

They have truly walked the talk, partnering with diverse Indigenous groups, farmers, and local communities to win pioneering and now-iconic victories—from preventing uranium mining and nuclear waste dumps, to protecting local ecosystems and leading direct action campaigns to leave extreme fossil fuels in the ground.

I’m thrilled to send my congratulations and best wishes to FoE Australia on their 40th birthday. What a milestone! I’m convinced that FoEA has shaped the lives and livelihoods of many more Australians than they realize. Here’s to another 40 powerful years of transformative work!
