Transport
It's not too late to stop runaway climate change
Transport by motor vehicles is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions.
Reduce your car use by:
riding a bike
walking
taking public transport such as buses, trains, trams or ferries
carpooling to work or social events.
These are the most climate friendly ways to travel, and they avoid the stress of traffic jams and provide time to relax or read. Do some research about local public transport services and bike paths. You might find that some or many of the trips you currently make by car could also be made on public transport or bike.
It is vital to avoid air travel wherever possible. Air travel is the fastest growing source of greenhouse gas emissions. It is a particularly dangerous contributor to global warming. Each ton of greenhouse gas emitted from air travel is 2.7 times as potent as emissions from other sources, because it is emitted at such high altitudes. Furthermore, there is no alternative technology on the horizon that will enable airplanes to fly without using fossil fuels. If we are serious about preventing runaway climate change, we can no longer fly for non-essential purposes.
