The recent release of the Stern review has caused many who were previously unconvinced of the need to reduce greenhouse emissions that urgent action is needed now. However, a new publication from Friends of the Earth, ‘Climate Justice: A fair share of the Atmosphere’ emphasises that our reasons for addressing climate change must be humanitarian as well as economic.

Nuclear energy, 'clean coal' and 'carbon capture and storage' are dinosaur fossil fuel technologies that belong in the past and act as a diversion from investment in real solutions and from our path to a clean green future. Unsustainable biofuels based on products that are genetically modified, driven by fertilisers and pesticides or which cause deforestation are also a nasty diversion from sustainable options.
