Kim Nguyen is riding from Brisbane to Copenhagen over a period of almost 18 months. He intends to arrive in time for the UN negotiations on climate change. Climate Camp Fines Fund
In July 2008, over a thousand people at Australia's first Camp for Climate Action peacefully blockaded the world's largest coal exporting port in Newcastle. It was an incredible day. Children led the march along the edge of the coal rail line, until we held a five minute silent vigil in front of the massive coal stockpiles. Then, one by one, small groups of people made their way over or under the fence and onto the tracks.

Damaging fossil fuel projects rejected in QLD
In recent weeks a proposed shale oil plant and a proposed coal port have been rejected by state and federal governments respectively. In September Federal environment minister Peter Garrett rejected a $5b proposal for a coal port at Shoalwater Bay on the central coast and in August Queensland Premier Anna Bligh rejected a shale oil proposal for Proserpine as too environmentally damaging.

This national speaking tour aims to raise awareness of the unequal impacts of climate change and to voice the urgent need for Australia to support development projects that are socially and environmentally just, rather than destructive.
