Climate Justice
Our climate campaign in 2010
For many years our climate justice campaign has forged the agenda on the human rights dimensions of climate change, most notably in the realm of climate refugees. In recent times, we have been greatly increasing the work we do on mitigation – that is, reducing our greenhouse gas emissions. We now have active climate campaigns focused on coal at the state or regional level in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
Much of our work continues to be done at the local group level. In addition, we have agreed that our areas of key national activity in 2010 will be:
- campaigns against existing coal mining and plans for expansion (see here for details)

- Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD)

Other areas areas of work are:
- helping build a stronger climate justice movement, including being actively involved in preparations for the 2010 national climate summit, which will be held in March
- trade unions/ just transitions and green jobs,
- false solutions (such as nuclear power and agrofuels)
We would welcome your involvement in our campaign.
