Biofuels: Climate solution or climate disaster? [Sydney, July 2

by CamWalker last modified 2008-06-11 22:38

July 2nd Venue: TBA Damien Lawson and Emma Brindal from Friends of the Earth will discuss how biofuels are being pushed as a climate change solution by governments, international institutions and particularly aggressively by big business. Yet the expansion of this industry is actually fuelling climate change, while also contributing to the destruction of food security, threatening local livelihoods, biodiversity, and water supplies. This forum will take a critical look at these social and environmental impacts of biofuels and ask whether biofuels are really the climate “solution” they are cracked up to be.
