World Water Day Public Meeting
Monday March 23, 6.30pm to 8pm
Coglin St Community Centre, 23 Coglin Street, Adelaide.

Australia has been riding the boom in commodities markets, but how do
present profits erode our natural capital? Now, as mining profits
wither in the global financial crisis, what is the true cost of the
mining industry? This forum will take up these themes with an emphasis
on the impacts of uranium mining on SA's water resources. Speakers will
share their insights from cultural, scientific, environmental and
social justice perspectives, while looking towards solutions for the
future.
Speakers include:
Jillian Marsh, Adnyamathanha woman and winner of the 2008 Nuclear Free Futures Award
Peter Watts, Arabunna custodian
Dr Gavin Mudd, Hydrogeologist and Engineering lecturer, Monash University
Peter Burdon, Masters candidate in Law, Adelaide University; Friends of the Earth Adelaide campaigner
David Noonan, Australian Conservation Foundation campaigner
And a statement by Mrs Eileen Wingfield, Kokatha elder and long term conservation campaigner
This World Water Day public forum will also launch a call for the Rann Government to initiate a Public Inquiry into the
depletion and pollution of SA’s precious and dwindling water resources by uranium mining companies. Copies of this
statement and further information will be available on the night.
