Queensland is the biggest coal exporting state in Australia, the biggest coal exporting country in the world and this coal, when it's burned, causes more GHG emissions than all of our domestic emissions. This has got to stop!

The Queensland government talk about reducing emissions while presiding over unprecedented expansion of coal export infrastructure such as a new coal terminal at Wiggins island in Gladstone.
In November we will be traveling to the 'coal face' of climate change in Queensland - the Bowen Basin so see the effects of the coal industry first hand.
Why?
- To build relationships with affected communities and indigenous crew.
- For participants to grasp and document the scale of coal exploitation.
- Exchanging skills and knowledge and perspectives with communities to amplify messages and concerns.
- Get out of Brisbane and have fun.
You are invited to join us on this exciting trip. Please express your interest by Sunday the 21st of September.
When?
Proposed departure dates are between the 16th and 23rd of November and we will be traveling for 2 weeks visiting Gladstone, Blackwater, Emerald, Alpha and Wandoan (exact route not yet confirmed, suggestions welcome) with ample rest time in national parks along the way :D
How much?
We will be fundraising for costs but all costs above what we manage to fundraise will be split between participants.
What?
We will be visiting communities, hearing stories from local residents and the indigenous community about their experiences of the coal industry. As well as putting on skill shares and public forums to talk about the bigger picture of coal expansion in Queensland.
The road trip is being collectively organised by interested participants. There are many roles that you can take on either in the lead up to the trip or on the trip. Check out the website http://cclt.wetpaint.com/ for more information. The next meeting to get up to date and start to help organising is Sunday the 21st of September, 3pm downstairs at 10 Laura St, Highgate Hill. RSVP to Paulie 0403666547
Looking forward to seeing you there!
