Achieving
sustainability in a globalised world
- what role for environmentalists?
A National Conference, hosted by the state and
national community environment organisations*
http://www.enviroconf.com/enviroconf/index.htm
Friday 7 to
Sunday 9 September 2001
University of Melbourne
The local and the global are merging. What are our roles as environmentalists
in this changing environment? And what is genuine sustainability anyway?
If you are protesting in the streets, hassling your local government,
in partnership for a better environment, or deeply concerned and want
to be more effective, this conference is for you.
It is your conference
The conference
will use the exciting open space¹ process to engage you - as much as
you want to be - on the topics you want to talk about. You are the expert:
it is your experience, your needs, your questions, your distress, your
achievements and your passion that counts.
People invited
- overseas participants to help us 'put a face on globalisation';
- elders to help us reflect on where we have come from;
- young people to help us see what we have to do;
- trainers to improve our
skills: using the media, avoiding burn-out,
campaign planning, mentoring, roles of boards, bringing about a learning culture.
