NATIONWIDE ACTIONS AGAINST IRAQ
WAR ON NOV 30 / DEC 1

Nationwide protests against war on Iraq under the slogans of 'No War on Iraq' 'No Australian Involvement', have been scheduled for the weekend of November 30/December 1, with actions in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Darwin, Canberra, Brisbane, and Lismore.

A massive action is expected in Sydney, with high-profile speakers John Pilger, and Sharan Burrow, and personalities from the arts community including actor John Howard, Jenny Morris, and CNNNN. Religious speakers include Bishop Pat Power and Sheikh Taj Aldin Al-Hilali.

The Sydney 'Walk Against The War' will commence at 12 noon Sat 30 Nov at Sydney Town Hall Square, and proceed to the Domain.

The Sydney action is organized by the Walk Against The War Coalition. According to Walk Against the War Coalition organizers, "Here in Sydney there has been unprecedented support for the Walk from a wide variety of sectors including the arts community, and religious communities.

" The fact that there are actions against war in every city of Australia over the Nov30/Dec1 weekend shows there is a groundswell of opinion against war that the government cannot possibly ignore."

"We are optimistic there will be a substantial turnout at these events, and call on the government to undertake not to support any US-led war against Iraq whatsoever."
