Radiohead joins climate change campaign in Latin America

Well known English musicians Radiohead have joined with Friends of the Earth Latin America in the campaign for Climate Justice. ATALC (Friends of the Earth Latin America and the Caribbean) will be present in all the Radiohead concerts during their Latin American tour (Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Chile), spreading the word about the problems caused by global warming.

Friends of the Earth international work in a coordinated way on the most urgent social and environmental issues of our time. Across our Climate Justice and Energy program, we demand justice for the communities affected by climate change, and promote energy sovereignty - that is, the communities’ rights to choose their own sources of sustainable energy.

We also work to promote a real commitment inside the United Nations negotiations, one which would see a fair agreement on finance and climate, and the end of deforestation, one of the biggest causes of the climate change.

“The solutions to climate change already exist, what we need is the politicians making correct decisions – working together can convince the politicians do the right thing".

We are asking people attending the concerts to support Friends of the Earth campaign by signing petitions either in person or via internet sites, and show the national governments that we want to see them doing more, to reduce greenhouse emmisions and stop climate change.

Details on the tour:

The campaign call is to the Chilean Government authorities to take conscious and realistic decisions on climate change, such as re-submitting to the Chilean Congress the Law of Protection of the Andean glaciers, whose first version was withdrawn from the legislative process because of lobbying by the mining companies, national and multinationals.
