Show your support for a nuclear free Victoria!
Rally tomorrow (tuesday April 17) in Melbourne
Show your support for a nuclear free Victoria!
This week the Victorian upper house will vote on the Nuclear Activities (Prohibitions) Amendment (Plebiscite) Bill 2007. It will facilitate the holding of a plebiscite in Victoria in the event that the
Commonwealth Government takes action to support or allow the construction of a
prohibited nuclear facility in Victoria.
This is a commendable act by the state government. This is also just prior to the ALP national conference in Sydney (April 27-29) where the question of whether the party should change its current approach to uranium will be debated.
We will be having a small presence outside Parliament House on tuesday 17th April at midday (till 1pm).
Please come along and show your support for this bill and remind ALP delegates to national conference that the community does not want them to over turn the existing 'no new (uranium) mines' policy.
Hope to see you there.
Please bring banners/ signs/ etc if possible
