The Time Line
Eco Market is not just an concept. It is a project that has already started and progressing to the stage of securing our first venue. Find out about where we are at now and where we are headed next.
Pending the results from our community consultation and Council approval, we will open the first Eco Market on 1st March2009 at the Elsternwick Primary School in Melbourne. Our 2008 start dates have been pushed back to allow for a proper community consultation and stakeholder engagement. We feel this additional time and process will see better outcomes for us and the community.
Working backwards through time, the timeline below provides an approximate guide of our activity timing:
- March 1st 2009 - Open first Eco Market
- Feb 2009 - Marketing and promotion. Develop consumer awareness shopping guide
- Jan 2009 - Complete Council approval process and finalise stallholders
- Nov - Dec 2008 - Negotiate site lease, sort list stallholders. Begin Community consultation.
- Oct - Nov - Select market site and begin to canvas stallholders
- Sep - Oct - Finalise product policy guidelines and develop publication materials .
- Aug - Sep - Negotiate site lease and development application
- Jun - Aug - Venue selection, raise public awareness and raise start-up funds.
- Jan - May 2008 - Initial planning, develop sustainable market product policy criteria
- Dec 2007 - FoE Australia endorses the project
- Nov 2007 - Eco Market proposal considered
