new project: 'Market forces' - shifting investment away from environmentally harmful projects
Market forces is a new project starting in 2013. It will enable the community to shift investment out of environmentally harmful projects, and into those that protect and enhance the environment.Trillions of dollars of Australians' money is held by treasuries, banks, superannuation funds, and other financial institutions. Despite being custodians of our money, all too often these institutions invest it in projects that contradict our values. Behind every coal mine or gas processing plant there is money belonging to Australians who want to see a very different future. Our vision is for a world in which the community holds accountable financial decision-makers and investors, and the custodians of our money use it to protect and enhance the environment, instead of destroying it.
Market forces will expose how our money is being invested in environmentally damaging projects, and enable the community to take action that shifts investment towards projects that match our values.
