Background
Canadian gold miner Crocodile Gold is pressing ahead with the development of the Big Hill open pit project at the Stawell gold mine in western Victoria.
The company has started the process of winning approval from the Victorian Government.

My name is James Talbot-Kamoen. I am cycling around Australia solo - my bike, my tent, my equipment and plenty of spare tubes for my wheels. I am hoping to spend time on country, and learn what Australia is really about. Just a few of my plans are to work as a farm hand in different parts of the country, get in some local fishing, spend time in local communities, bring my Goolaburu friend Eric in Broome a signed North Melbourne football jumper, volunteer with a few community groups and get to know the people in Uluru, NT.

Diana Horsburgh, a founder-member of Friends of the Earth Kuranda, died at her home in Kuranda in the early morning of Saturday, 6th October 2012 surrounded by close family and friends.
Di was an inspiring activist. She’ll be greatly missed by many in the local community – not least by her friends and colleagues in FoE Kuranda.
Her untimely death leaves a large gap in this region’s environment movement.
