Co-hosted by GetUp and Friends of the Earth.
Big Tech is racing to build massive data centres across Australia, with 162 already operating and another 90 in the pipeline. They guzzle water and electricity, push up power bills, and are being fast-tracked through planning systems that lock out councils and residents.
Labor's new framework was meant to rein this in. Instead it fast-tracks approvals, doesn't require 100% renewable energy, and won't rule out new gas plants to keep these centres running. It's a green light for Big Tech and new demand for fossil fuels, dressed up as "AI in Australia's interests".
That's why we're hosting a webinar.
